President Obama spoke about “common-sense” gun control reforms following the defeat of a series of amendment votes in the Senate, including the Manchin-Toomey Amendment expanding background checks. In his remarks he said that it was a “shameful” day in Washington and strongly criticized the gun lobby for “willfully lying” about its position on the bipartisan legislation.
