Acting Commissioner Steven Miller and Inspector General J. Russell George testified about revelations that the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) had applied additional scrutiny to groups applying for tax-exempt status that had the words “Tea Party” or “patriot” in their names. They also talked about the inspector general’s report on the practice, and answered sometimes pointed questions about previous statements to Congress.
