Robert Kaiser talked about his book, Act of Congress: How America’s Essential Institution Works, and How It Doesn’t, in which he recounts the struggle to pass the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act following the 2008 economic collapse. Mr. Kaiser, who covered the legislative process for the Washington Post, talked about the major players who impacted the legislation and discussed what he learned about the workings of the U.S. Congress. During this event, Mr. Kaiser was joined by former senator Christopher Dodd (D-CT) and Brookings Institution senior fellow Thomas Mann. The discussion was moderated by Brookings Institution senior fellow and Washington Post columnist, E.J. Dionne. close
