Panelists discussed the complicated relationship between the U.S. and Russia, and the various approaches to diplomacy on both sides. They focused on the recent Russian emphasis on the uses of “soft power.” Topics included the impact of Hollywood culture and foreign exchange programs and how the importance Russia places on sovereignty affects their policy in Syria.

“Role of ‘Soft Power’ in the U.S. - Russian Bilateral Relations” was a program of the Alfa Fellowship Alumni Association, held in the Choate Room of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. close
