Brooks Simpson spoke about the Battle of Gettysburg, which took place July 1-3, 1863, and is considered the bloodiest battle ever on U.S. soil. He talked about how commanders on both sides drew upon their previous military experiences at Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, and other battles, and how their decisions were based on what they had learned during two years of war.
