Jeffrey Sachs, director of the Earth Institute at Columbia University, talked about his book, To Move the World: JFK’s Quest for Peace, in which he recounts President John F. Kennedy’s pursuit of a reduction of nuclear arms and a greater relationship with the Soviet Union following the Cuban Missile Crisis. In his book, the author focuses on Kennedy’s foreign policy initiatives from October 1962 to September 1963 and reports that the President with the assistance of Soviet President Nikita Khruschev worked to move away from nuclear conflict.
