A panel of religious leaders and academics talked about the increasingly diverse and multi-cultural society of the United States. The focus was what racial consciousness might be like in the year 2050 and how religion and trans-nationalism might shape racial identity.

“Preparing for 2050: The Changing Face of Race in America,” part of the annual International Festival of Arts and Ideas, was inspired by the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation and the 50th anniversary of the Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr.'s “I Have a Dream” speech at the March on Washington, which were celebrated in 2013. close
