Federal consumer product safety and transportation officials talked about how their agencies were working to prevent injuries to children and then responded to questions from members of the audience. Topics included safety standards for cribs and toys, seat belts in cars and airplanes, distracted and impaired drivers, and heat stroke in cars. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) Chairman Inez Tenenbaum, who would be leaving her position in the fall, received a standing ovation for her accomplishments.

This was the plenary session of the 2013 Childhood Injury Prevention Conference held at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland. close
