The wife of Vice President Dan Quayle, Marilyn Quayle, reflected on her experiences in politics in an address during the third evening of the Republican National Convention. Mrs. Quayle, speaking as a baby-boomer who did not join the counter-culture, stated that having a career was not incompatible with motherhood, and said being a mother or wife gives women lives a “richness that few men or women get from professional accomplishment alone.” close
