Witnesses testified on the Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG), an independent federal agency that includes the Voice of America, Radio Free Asia and other services. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton called the agency “defunct” during one of her last appearances before Congress. Former BBG Chairman James Glassman disputed that characterization, but said the agency should be supervised by the State Department, and its mission more clearly defined. close
