A memorial service was held for the 19 firefighters of the Granite Mountain Hotshots killed on June 30, 2013, while battling the Yarnell Hill wildfire near Prescott, Arizona. “Hotshots” are crews of 20 firefighters, specially trained in wildfire suppression tactics. The service at Tim’s Toyota Center began with a choir singing “On Eagle’s Wings.” Brendan McDonough, the lone member of the crew to survive, was among the speakers that also included Vice President Joe Biden and Arizona Governor Jan Brewer.

The beginning 30 minutes of the ceremony are unavailable due to signal transmission difficulty. close
