National Transportation Safety Board Chairman Deborah Hersman gave an update on the ongoing investigation into the crash of Asiana Airlines Flight 214 on Saturday, July 6, 2013, while landing at San Francisco International Airport. Two teenagers were killed and over 180 people were injured. Chairman Hersman gave detailed technical information and talked about the interviews with all four of the pilots. She said that the pilot at the controls was making his first landing of a 777. The commanding pilot was serving as a flight instructor for the first time. In addition, she noted that two Asiana flight attendants were ejected from the rear of the plane during impact but survived. Other topics included drug and alcohol testing requirements by the FAA. close
