The House Rules Committee held a hearing on the rules for debate on two bills delaying for one year provisions of the Affordable Care Act, the employer mandate and penalties for individuals without health insurance. The Authority for Mandate Delay Act would delay enforcement of the employer mandate portion of the health care law until 2015. The Fairness for American Families Act would also allow a delay for individuals until 2015. The individual mandate in the health care law is still set to begin January 1, 2014. The employer mandate has been delayed by Obama Administration until 2015. The hearing was chaired by Representative Pete Sessions (R-TX). close
