Senator Robert Dole, Senate Minority Leader (R) Kansas, spoke to the 1992 Republican National Convention to introduce the president’s nomination acceptance speech. Sen. Dole, stringing off a series of humorous remarks at the beginning of his remarks, noted the foreign policy accomplishments of the president, and criticized the do-nothing Democratic leadership in Congress. During his remarks, Sen. Dole led the crowd in chanting, “They just don’t get it!” and asked the audience who they would trust in the White House, receiving a cry of “George Bush” from the delegates. close
