Former President Gerald Ford and former Senator Howard Baker addressed the American Spirit Leadership Forum, held on the final day of the Republican National Convention. Mr. Ford spoke on his impressions of the characteristics essential for an effective presidency, including integrity and experience in foreign policy. Senator Baker spoke on the necessity for changing party control of Congress to allow for an effective second term for President Bush. The two men responded to questions on American politics from members of the audience. close
