In just one day of a five-day battle in March 1953, the Korean war horse made 51 solo trips carrying wounded soldiers and almost five tons of ammunition to the front lines under heavy fire. Wounded twice, she later received two Purple Hearts along with many other military decorations.
The participants in this program included Korean War veterans who served with Sergeant Reckless, along with retired Lieutenant General Robert Blackman, president and CEO of the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation, and General James Amos, Commandant of the Marine Corps. This event was co-hosted by the Sergeant Reckless Memorial Fund and Angels Without Wings.
