Communicators with National Association of Broadcasters President Smith
Paul Kirby was the guest interviewer.
Former Senator Gordon Smith (R-OR), president and chief executive officer of the National Association of Broadcasters, talked about several of the major issues in television and radio. Included were the spectrum auctions slated for 2014, a recent Defense Department proposal to give one band of spectrum to wireless companies and to share another band with broadcasters, TV retransmission, media ownership, changes in leadership at the Federal Communications Commission, and the disputes between radio stations, musicians, and record companies over royalties. He responded to a video clip of Aereo founder Chet Kanojia from July 17, 2013.
