Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel spoke to reporters about significant military force cuts due to sequestration. He outlined options from a strategic guidance review of actions the Defense Department could take to deal with the realities of cuts, including a 20 percent reduction in major headquarter budgets and possibly reducing Army troops to 380,000 soldiers and Marines to 150,000. He urged Congress to become partners in reductions, saying, “We need to help them understand what we’re facing here. We’re not crying wolf. I don’t want to put in a word that’s not fact.”
