Senate Judiciary Subcommittee hearing on the Electoral College & Direct Election of the President. The hearing was inspired by Ross Perot’s independent presidential bid which some Congressmen said underlined major flaws in the presidential election system. Both committee members and witnesses offered ideas for changes in the electoral system. They also explored how the Electoral College works and how the President of the United States is chosen. close
