Former Vice President Dick Cheney and his oldest daughter, Liz, talked about current events. Former Vice President Cheney talked about the history of the National Security Agency’s surveillance programs which he helped start after the September 11, 2001, attacks. Topics included the Obama administration defense budget and foreign policies, the Internal Revenue Service targeting conservative groups, and the future leaders of the Republican Party. Former Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Liz Cheney talked about why she was running for the Republican nomination for a U.S. Senate seat from Wyoming. Former Vice President Cheney also talked about his family and his forthcoming book, Heart: An American Medical Odyssey. They responded to questions submitted by members of the audience.
