Washington Institute for Near East Policy defense and Middle East analysts talked about their report on Syria’s military opposition groups as well as the potential implications of a U.S. strike against Syria. All of the panelists have formerly served as intelligence and military officers. Following an introduction, each speaker focused on different parts of the Syrian civil war and the opposition groups' involvement. Jeffrey White talked about the challenges facing these groups. Andrew Tabler talked about the problems these groups create for Syrian President Assad, and President Obama’s possible response. Michael Eisenstatdt discussed how a U.S. military strike would work against Syria, such as the locations that would target, and its potential effectiveness. close
