The House Foreign Affairs Committee held a hearing on the Obama administration’s response to the use of chemical weapons in Syria, including President Obama’s request for an authorization for use of military force. Secretary of State John Kerry told members that there would be no “boots on the ground” and the operation would not mean going to war with Syria. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Martin Dempsey also testified about preparations for an attack and the strategy behind the possible mission. close
