Five-Year Anniversary of Financial Crisis President Obama talked about the economy and job creation on the fifth anniversary of the 2008 financial crisis. He highlighted his administration’s policies to strengthen the economy as Congress worked to pass a federal budget and raise the debt. He was strongly critical of Republicans in Congress, saying “I can’t remember a time when one faction of one party promises chaos if it can’t get 100 percent of what it wants.” In opening remarks he mentioned the shooting that happened earlier in the morning at the Washington, D.C. Navy Yard. He also spoke briefly on progress on negotiations on moving Syria’s chemical weapons under international control. close
