Washington Navy Yard Shooting Memorial Service
President Obama in his 20-minute eulogy said the mass shooting should not reflect a “new normal” in the U.S. but a call to adopt similar policies of other countries that had changed their laws to end gun violence.

A memorial service was held for the victims of the Washington Navy Yard shooting on September 16, 2013. The ceremony included a bell ringing following the reading of the names of each of the deceased, the playing of taps, and Navy Band performances of the national anthem and “Amazing Grace.” Speakers included members of the families of the victims, President Obama, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, and U.S. Navy leaders.
