Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) talked about the chances for avoiding a government shutdown and whether delays in the Affordable Care Act are a sign that the new law should be postponed. He said that he thinks the Affordable Care Act is a “step forward,” but that the United States will eventually adopt a “national health care program which guarantees health care to all people as a right.” He said that the debate about the Affordable Care Act is a good debate and that the act can be improved, but the threat of a government shutdown is not the way to accomplish that goal. close
