Fort Ellis Thomas Rust talked about his book, Fort Ellis, Montana Territory 1867-1886: A Documentary History, in which he chronicles the history of Fort Ellis, a combination infantry and cavalry post built 3 miles east of Bozeman, Montana in 1867. Its purpose was to protect the early settlers and miners from nearby Indian tribes.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2013 LCV Cities Tour” in Billings, Montana from September 9-13 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Charter Communications local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. close
