The Senate Labor & Human Resources subcommittee on Children, Family, Drugs, and Alcohol, heard testimony on violence among America’s youth in a hearing entitled, “Children at War: Violence and America’s Youth.” Witnesses spoke on the possible causes of rising homicide rates among American youth, including media violence, substance abuse, and weapons availability. Witnesses included John Singleton, the producer, and director of Boyz 'n the Hood, a film on the lives of inner-city youth. close
