Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) spoke about the debt ceiling increase. Senate Majority Leader Reid told members that the Senate would vote that coming Saturday on a long-term debt ceiling increase. The Reid measure would remove the debt ceiling through the end of 2014. Senate Minority Leader McConnell said it “won’t fly.” He said that it was necessary to discuss the root causes of the debt. Senator McConnell said Senate Republicans had been invited to meet with the president at the White House the next day. close
