A panel examines the historical scholarship of David Reynolds, author of biographies of John Brown and Walt Whitman and histories of the mid-19th century. The panelists include Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Annette Gordon-Reed; Sean Wilentz, history professor at Princeton University; Brenda Wineapple, author of the recently published Ecstatic Nation:Confidence, Crisis, and Compromise, 1848-1877; and Bill Kelly, interim chancellor at the City University of New York. The panel discussion,hosted by the CityUniversity of New York Graduate Center,is followedwith a response by David Reynolds. close
