Telephone lines were open for viewer comments on the question, “Would you vote for a third party?” A portion of C-SPAN’s “Newmakers” interview with House Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Fred Upton was shown in which he talked about his committee’s role in the investigation of the release of the Healthcare.gov Web site.

Frank Newport was interviewed by phone on the findings from a Gallup poll on third parties taken during the government shutdown. The key finding was that 60 percent of those polled thought a third major party was needed because Republicans and Democrats do such a poor job as governing.

At the conclusion of the program C-SPAN Radio’s Nancy Calo previewed the Sunday morning talk shows. close
