University of Michigan Professor Laurence Goldstein talked about American poet and essayist Robert Hayden. Hayden was born and raised in Detroit and enrolled in the University of Michigan in 1941. He was appointed Consultant in Poetry to the Library of Congress in 1976, and was the first African American named to this post.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2013 LCV Cities Tour” in Ann Arbor, Michigan, from October 21-25 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Comcast Cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. close
