Senior Food and Drug Administration (FDA) officials gave an update on the implementation of the 2012 FDA Safety and Innovation Act. They told committee members that the overall process was going well despite some fiscal difficulties caused by sequestration and other budget cuts. The bill gave the FDA various new powers, including faster generic prescription drug approval, improving the review process for medical devices, and better safety standards for imported drugs. close
