Former British Ambassador to the U.S. Sir Nigel Sheinwald spoke before the British Foreign Affairs Committee on the status of United Kingdom-U.S. relations. He told committee members that relations with the U.S. were both essential and special. He talked about the challenges of working with the various foreign departments and stated his staff had to be just as active pursuing issues on Capitol Hill as the State Department.
