Mike Bullard talked about his book, Lioness of Idaho: Louise Shadduck and the Power of Polite, in which he tells the story of Idaho political activist Louis Shadduck. Shadduck grew up on a dairy farm in Coeur d’Alene and, with only a high school education, would go on to become a journalist, author and one of the most influential people in Idaho politics. She worked on the presidential campaign of Dwight Eisenhower in 1952 and would become Idaho’s first female Director of Commerce and Development. She also chaired the Idaho Republican campaign of Ronald Reagan in 1980. Louise Shadduck died in 2008 at the age of 93.
