Witnesses testified on the impact of the Affordable Care Act on the Medicare Advantage program. Medicare Advantage plans are the private health coverage that older people can get as an alternative to traditional Medicare. The health care law would reduce federal rebate payments to Medicare Advantage plans over time while mandating minimum coverage levels. That might cause plans to be eliminated or increase in price. The annual enrollment opportunity would end December 7, 2013. close
