Representative Greg Walden (R-OR), the chair of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Communications and Technology, spoke at a Hudson Institute event on cable and satellite television laws. He said that his committee would examine and update the Communications Act, which governs laws involving television and other media. He also said his first update to the law would be to get “outdated government rules off the books” so that video programmers can better serve their customers and that he hopes to work with House Judiciary Committee to review and update the copyright licensing system for retransmission of broadcast signals. close
