White House Press Secretary Jay Carney gave a briefing to reporters and answered questions. He outlined an executive order calling on federal agencies to double their use of renewable energy. President Obama signed a memorandum that day as an extension of an executive order he issued in 2009 that called on the federal government to be a leader in clean energy and energy efficiency. Other topics included the health care law, the death of an American in Benghazi, the farm bill, food stamps, raising the minimum wage, and ongoing budget negotiations. close
