The Senate Select Intelligence Committee heard testimony on the nominations of Daniel Bennett Smith to be assistant secretary of State for intelligence and research and Caroline Dianne Krass to be general counsel to the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Senator Michael Bennet (D-CO) introduced Ms. Krass, who did not commit to reporting her legal opinions to Congress but said that she did intend to learn from the past controversies over torture techniques. close
