Pan Am Flight 103 25th Anniversary Memorial Service The 25th anniversary of the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 was commemorated with a service to remember the victims at the Lockerbie Cairn in Arlington National Cemetery.
On December 21, 1988, a Libyan terrorist bomb exploded as Pan American Flight 103 passed over Lockerbie, Scotland. All 243 passengers and 16 crew on board were killed, as were 11 more people on the ground. The 270 red sandstone blocks sent from Scotland for the Pan Am Flight 103 Memorial represent the 270 lives lost.
