Richard Dieter, executive director of the Death Penalty Information Center, talked about a report published by the center that examined the use of the death penalty throughout the United States. According to the report, executions dropped by about ten percent in 2013 and new death sentences issued by states were near their lowest level since the 1970s. Topics included the risks of executing innocent persons, the lack of lethal injection drugs, and the utility of the death penalty.
