Representative Paul Ryan on Social Mobility
This was the closing keynote address of the first annual Social Mobility Summit of the Brookings Institution’s Center on Children and Families.
House Budget Committee Chair Paul Ryan (R-WI) talked about the issue of social mobility and offered ways to overcome obstacles, including asking more of food stamp recipients in return for the government’s support, and encouraging stronger support for community-based resources such as churches, community groups, and volunteer organizations.
