Federal officials testified on the effectiveness of Office of Management and Budget (OMB) policies implemented to reduce conference and travel spending by federal agencies. Members of the committee expressed concerns that recent savings would be difficult to maintain without additional legislation. Deputy Director Cobert said that travel spending in fiscal year 2013 was about $3 billion less than 2010, but witnesses also said more needs to be done to track conference spending specifically. close
