House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) briefed reporters and answered questions about the Democratic agenda. She said that congressional should drop their “shortsighted and immoral opposition” to extending emergency unemployment insurance. She added that recess should be canceled the following week in order to work on issues such as increasing the minimum wage, comprehensive immigration reform, and a strong jobs initiative. Of the Affordable Care Act, she stated the technology on the rollout was unfortunate but the law is “a pillar of civility” for American families. She also commented on the upcoming National Football Conference championship football game between the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks, and San Francisco’s Candlestick Park stadium, which was scheduled for demolition later in the year. close
