The American Enterprise hosted two panel discussions on telecommunications policy, intellectual property, and cybersecurity. The first panel focused on the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals ruling that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) lacks the authority to regulate how Internet service providers grant access to content. The Verizon v. FCC case concerned the commission’s “net neutrality” principles that require Internet providers to allow content providers equal access to networks rather than giving preference to certain types of traffic.

In the second forum panelists talked about privacy, intellectual property, and cybersecurity. They debated the National Security Agency’s NSA) controversial surveillance programs, in particular the collection cell phone metadata. close
