Two women who were sexually assaulted in the military told their experiences to a federal advisory committee conducting an independent review of the military systems for handling cases of adult sexual assault. One of the witnesses described the continuing impact, over 20 years later, of the multiple assaults against her, and both talked about the pressure they felt not to report what happened to them. A third witness, a retired Navy commander who was not a sexual assault victim, gave recommendations based on her own research for improving the system. close
