Churchill's First War
Con Coughlin, defense editor of the Daily Telegraph, talked about his book, Churchill’s First War: Young Winston at War with the Afghans, in which he recounts Winston Churchill’s first military tour in Afghanistan in 1897. In his book, the author reports that Churchill, a cavalry lieutenant at the time, authored a book of his recollections in Afghanistan, The Story of the Malakand Field Force, that was published in 1898 and awarded the future British Prime Minister public recognition.
