Heroin Use and Substance Abuse
Donna Leinwand Leger talked about heroin use and substance abuse in the U.S. and government plans to deal with it. She said that reasons for the rise in heroin abuse include people moving to heroin from their prescription drugs because it is cheaper than most prescriptions, partially due to the methods used to combat abuse of prescription drugs. A video clip was shown of Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) speaking on the Senate floor about the drug-related death of actor Philip Seymour Hoffman. She responded to telephone calls and electronic communications. close
