Governor Mary Fallin’s (R-OK) talked about her initiative, “America Works: Education and Training for Tomorrow’s Jobs.” The initiative targeted improving state education and workforce training systems, and aimed to help states overcome the gaps between their education and training systems and the workforce those systems are preparing young people to enter. Jeffrey Immelt, chair and CEO of General Electric, then spoke about the importance of science, math, and engineering education and the benefits derived from state partnerships with universities and community colleges.
