President Obama talked about the drought in California and announced a federal aid package which included $100 million to aid farmers who had lost livestock, as well as help for rural communities facing water shortages. He also directed federal facilities in California to curb water usage. President Obama also remarked on the impact of climate change and carbon pollution on the drought. He said that it was “undeniable” that changing temperatures influence drought and the approach to water use must be re-thought. President Obama made his remarks after touring a Merced County farm in Los Banos, California. close
