Doug Elmendorf answered reporters questions at a “Monitor Breakfast” held by the Christian Science Monitor at the St. Regis Hotel. Among his comments, he defended his Congressional Budge Office’s minimum wage report, calling it balanced and consistent with many other economists' thinking. According to the report, if the minimum wage were increased, it would raise family income levels but also cost jobs. Other topics included the impact of the Affordable Care Act on jobs and President Obama’s upcoming budget proposal for fiscal year 2015. close
